TSMC said on May 5, 2011 that the company plans to double its annual production over the next five years through capacity expansion, according to the Taipei Times of Taiwan. It is reported that four TSMC's new plants will begin small-scale production by the end of 2011. TSMC estimates that the company's output will reach 20 million 8-inch equivalent wafers by the end of 2015, up from the 10 million units in 2010. Production of TSMC's 12-inch wafer fab, Fab 15, located at the Central Taiwan Science Park is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2011.
